Meet Dr. Scurria
Dr. Scurria has been in private prosthodontic practice since 1999, with a focus on complex reconstructions, practical implant utilization, and complete denture therapies. He is well versed in all aspects of prosthodontic care, having spent seven years as a full-time faculty member at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry, leaving as a tenured associate professor. Dr. Scurria strives to help each of his patients identify the right treatment plan for his or her specific situation. He partners with both an in-house lab technician and other world-class laboratories to carry out ideal individualized treatment plans. He has helped thousands of patients overcome significant dental challenges and looks forward to helping you, too.
Dr. Scurria is a founding board member for Local Start Dental, a non-profit clinic in downtown Durham dedicated to replacement tooth care (dentures and implants) for the underserved, and served as Board Chair from 2021-2023. In 2021, he also co-founded NewStart Denture + Implant Partners, a high technology denture and implant practice in Raleigh, NC.
Dr. Scurria makes his home in Chapel Hill with his wife Amy, where they raised their three children. In his free time, he enjoys travel, reading, and keeping up with the Tar Heels!
Meet Dr. Marquez
Dr. Rosanna Marquez joined Triangle Restoration Dentistry in January of 2006. Originally from the Philippines, Dr. Marquez completed her specialty training in prosthodontics at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1988, after which she practiced for 11 years in San Francisco, California. She also taught part-time at the dental school at the University of California in San Francisco.
Dr. Marquez moved to North Carolina in 2001 and earned an advanced standing degree from the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry while also teaching part-time in the Department of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Marquez lives in Chatham County; she has two children and her sweet pup Simon. She enjoys an active lifestyle, including swimming, hiking, and traveling.
Meet Dr. Presnell
Dr. Chris Presnell joined Triangle Restoration Dentistry in July 2021. Originally from Harrisburg, NC, Dr. Presnell moved to Chapel Hill in 2008, where he completed Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Exercise and Sport Science at UNC. After finishing his undergraduate education, he completed an internship at Triangle Restoration Dentistry prior to attending dental school at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. In his Graduate Prosthodontics residency at UNC, he developed a passion for digital dentistry, dental implants, and complex rehabilitations.
Since 2021, Dr. Presnell has given back to the future of the profession by serving as a clinical professor at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry.
Dr. Presnell lives in Hillsborough with his wife, Jessica, and two young children. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family, cheering on the Tar Heels, and fly fishing in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
Meet Dr. Mcilwain
Dr. Anna McIlwain joined Triangle Restoration Dentistry in 2023. She was born and raised in Durham, along with her three siblings. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Clemson University, her DDS degree from the UNC Adams School of Dentistry, and her Prosthodontics Certificate & Master’s degree in Oral Biology from the UNC Adams School of Dentistry.
Dr. McIlwain has dreamed of being a dentist since she was in middle school. She chose to specialize in prosthodontics after her pre-dental internship at Triangle Restoration Dentistry, where she saw the impact that prosthodontic treatment can have on patients’ lives. She enjoys providing creative solutions for complex patients, whether their needs involve crowns, bridges, dental implants, or removable prostheses. Dr. McIlwain takes pride in educating her patients on their oral conditions, and empowering them to make informed treatment decisions.
Aside from practicing prosthodontics, Dr. McIlwain enjoys spending time with her husband Austin, her boys AJ and Charlie. She also spends her free time painting and cooking new recipes.
