Meet Dr. Scurria

Dr. Scurria has been in private prosthodontic practice since 1999 with a focus on complex reconstructions, practical implant utilization, and complete denture therapies. He is well versed in all aspects of prosthodontic care, having spent seven years as a full-time faculty member at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry, leaving as a tenured associate professor. Dr. Scurria strives to help each of his patients identify the right treatment plan for his or her specific situation. He partners with both an in-house lab technician and other world-class laboratories to carry out ideal individualized treatment plans. He has helped thousands of patients overcome significant dental challenges and looks forward to helping you, too.

Dr. Scurria is a founding board member for Local Start Dental, a non-profit clinic in downtown Durham dedicated to replacement tooth care (dentures and implants) for the underserved, and served as Board Chair from 2021-2023. In 2021 he also co-founded NewStart Denture + Implant Partners, a high technology denture and implant practice in Raleigh, NC.

Dr. Scurria makes his home in Chapel Hill with his wife Amy where they raised their three children. In his free time, he enjoys travel, reading, and walking his dogs.
